Pros

None. It's a scam and the management their is full of con artist.

Cons

The company works off of lies. They lie on to their potential employees promising money, but all you will do is cold calls and make only commission.

Not a job for everyone

Pros

None that I can think of at the moment. It was pretty dishonest place to work at, though they did help me with my shyness...

Cons

1. Old leads... Most had been called numerous times by previous agents, wanted to be taken off the list but weren't, deceased, retired union members who either could not afford the premium or just didn't want it. The most successful had a very strong warm market. I did not 2. Little to no training... Bulk of my time there was spent memorizing the provided scripts 3. No information about the products... Had to research on my own 4. You are a 1099, it's strictly commission. No sales mean no check... Don't do it if you are really in need of a job 5. They pretty much set your schedule for you, which did not make sense seeing that we were contractors(1099) Honestly I'm glad I got the opportunity to work there because it helped me a bit with my timidness, but I would never go back

Pros

There are no pros to this position or the company. I have never been so lied to and so mislead by an "employer"

Cons

DOOR TO DOOR selling bs insurance to poor people. 12 hours a day 7 days a week for little to no money. Micromanaging managers who treat you like W2 on steroids. Trying to generate business from "leads" contacted by 10 different agents in the past year Managers FORCING you to knock on people's doors until 10 at night to set appts if they don't pick up the phone I was in school for an MBA before being forced to drop out because of working over 80 hours a week for no paycheck Trained you to call back to back so people thought it was a family emergency so they would answer No legitimate company makes you pay for your own license. All they do is LIE LIE LIE: advanced commission checks can be taken away from you at any time if the policy cancels. In this economy - when someone is struggling life insurance is usually the first to go. Can you afford to take your paycheck and not spend a dime because you might have to pay it back?? Torchmark is NOT A FORTUNE 500. They use this line all the time. It's in the FORTUNE 1000, but this is just a marketing gimmick. If they need to sell you on the job so hard to work there, there's a reason for it.
