Pros
It feels good to help physicians Working for a nonprofit is fulfilling They treat employees pretty well, managing salary raises and bonuses most years
Cons
Very compartmentalized, not much cross-department collaboration Top-down management, not an innovation-friendly place Change is the enemy Any change happens slower than molasses if it isn't shut down right away Mediocre and bad managers stay in place Managers aren't trained in how to handle people; they're promoted because of seniority or because they're good at their original job. Working at home is either banned or happens on the down-low
