Pros

I have worked for them for over 10 years. They have always been an awesome company to work for, felt like they always treated their employees well and listened to them. Good family like atmosphere

Cons

Acquired by BAM who is now changing everything. Not even two months ago they told us we would be hybrid 50% in office and they would never be changing it to full time. People were hired with that process and it was an excellent benefit to give the employees that cost nothing. Now, not even two months later they told us Nevermind, you have to come in full time. So many people have to budget for more gas and other expenses, it's upsetting and makes the employees distrustful of the company and many are looking for new employment.

Pros

Absolutely no pros at all

Cons

I don't even know where to begin. When I first started with the company, it was great and the company promoted flexibility and being there for their employees including working from home. Since Brookfield bought out the company, it went downhill really fast. We were told they would leave us alone since they don't know how to run an insurance company and they interfered a year later. Forced to do 100% work in office while 50% of the company is permanent remote. There is 0 flexibility, and forced to use PTO time if you need to leave early for personal reasons. The culture has become toxic and the company just constantly want you to work hard and fast to make them as much money as possible, while we get little reward. Benefits have gone downhill, and there is no/little raise (expect less than $1 each year) and for employee appreciation day we just get snow cones as appreciation for working so hard. There is constant round of lay offs each month to help make the company more profitable. At this point I don't know if there will be a company/business left after the lay offs. Also, management doesn't care about you and am just a diversity hire for the company. Some managers just want to ride it out until retirement so they forced their employees to come in every day while others don’t care and some only come in once a week. Please stay away if you can!!

Pros

As a last option as a short stop-over, at least you'll have an income, however you should continue searching for better options.

Cons

Brookfield Asset Management Reinsurance Partners bought American National Insurance in 2022 and while this was lucrative for the owners and investors, it's been unkind to agents and employees. Brookfield's allegiance is SOLELY to their bottom-line, at any cost, and if their customers and employees somehow catch a crumb, well, good for them. They've cut everything cuttable, including benefits and commission. And while this may seem prudent to Brookfield, it is clear they have no concern for their agents or employees. There's NO balance in their equation and based on employee feedback on their takeovers of other companies, this culture is their norm. Picture a plague of locusts wiping out all the crop. It's time for employees to seek opportunities with companies that show appreciation for their contribution in the form of compensation, benefits, etc. Never give where it's not reciprocated in ways you require as well. Always arm yourself with the education and skills to seek higher levels so you can leave greedy, soul-less organizations and still thrive.
