Pros

Nice to be linked to a company with a good name. We love our donors..some of the most caring people in the world. Helping people.

Cons

Long hours, few breaks, pay not keeping up, benefit package getting worse every year. Due to low staffing levels, long lines at drives which makes donor unhappy.

Great mission - leadership epic fail.

Pros

Competitive salary and benefits for a non-profit. There are some incredible people working there who are mission driven. The worst day at work is still a day spent saving lives.

Cons

Disgraceful, lazy leadership. Runs more like a sorority house than a business. Zero support for mid-level management, which likely filters from the top level. No training for non-technical positions, no communication, bottom of the barrel morale, no respect for volunteers or customer service for donors.

Pros

Good working atmosphere with respect for family and personal lives. A lot of room for creativity in your position once you have established yourself as long as you are a good communicator and a team player. Good insurance and benefits package. Overall you can feel great about coming to work everyday and making a difference in someone else's life.

Cons

Some of the employees that have been around for a long time are poisonous to a positive working atmosphere. Compensation is good for non-profit but not on par with for-profit business. Professional development and training opportunities are lacking compared to what you can get at for-profit companies.
