A stable job with good work/life balance -- but personal growth is slow here

Pros

Decent pay, good healthcare benefits, $100 quarterly bonus if your track steps. The people here are nice and easy to get along with. Despite company being in the hole of Sorento Valley, the building has newly remodeling interior and has a relaxing waterfall outside.

Cons

PC only, no Macs. You don't feel like you are working towards a BIG goal. Everyone is comfortable here, and complacent, which means no innovation. The CEO quotes Steve Jobs a lot during his presentations, and seems to be happy with Obamacare and the growth it provided for his company, BUT he is very conservative (won't let the company go public, no radical marketing campaigns or logo redesign, etc)

Overall a great place to work with great benefits and perks.

Cons

Working at American Specialty Health as a Customer Service Rep is truly a day-to-day opportunity. Thought the benefits are great, getting canned is just a easy. Their standards have loop-holes since they are dictated by clients, hence one has to be their toes at all times. Upward mobility is reserved for those who went to high school with the management.

There are so many pros, but here are just a few that you are sure to see here at ASH: culture, experience, diversity, knowledgeable leaders and friendly employees

Cons

With a company with a little over 1300 employees, it's hard to ensure that everyone remains happy. However ASH does a great job of trying with the many clubs, groups and opportunities for recognition. Some challenges are: Higher level red tape, department consistency and all salaries matching industry standards
