Great Shift, Low Pay

Pros

I work 10 hour shifts. I get Saturday, Sunday and Monday off. I don't have to be back to work until Tuesday night. Great shift.

Cons

Low pay. Some Managers drag you on. Promise you the world. Promise you more money and can't come up with it.

Pros

Depending on base and willingness to have awful hours flying debateably airworthy airplanes for awful pay in awful locations (BFE Texas, etc.) you can build a decent amount of turbine time in a relatively short amount of time. You will work 5-6 days a week. If you live somewhere desirable you won't be able to afford rent and food, just like the first year of any regional.

Cons

Crumbling airplanes, perpetually junior maintainance teams (high turnover) due to poor pay, bottom line centric management with no regard for pilot rest, welfare, working conditions or paying a living wage, very few in the training department with any willingness to actually train, very few days off and extremely long duty days often times with "outstation rest" meaning you have one day off a week. If you can work anywhere else flying a turbine for the same or better pay, do it.
