      No longer a "best place to work"

      Pros

      Great total compensation package, terrific benefits, onsite day care, lots of career growth opportunities, some very talented employees, philanthropic organization

      Cons

      Recent reduction in force handled quite poorly, from employee termination and work transition standpoints. Lots of stories of unprofessional forced exits, and critical business processes and systems seemingly abandoned because of the departure of key talent with no knowledge transfer. Remaining staff are ridiculously overworked and stressed. Despite company mission to serve patients, the company clearly has grown to a size where it is financially, rather than scientifically, driven.

      Was a fun company to work for - not so much anymore. Compensation is great.

      Pros

      Work life balance. Interesting work and good people around you. Good pay in comparison to other biotech companies in area. Great 401k and two week long shutdowns a year.

      Cons

      Layoffs nearly every year. Do more with less. Finance CEO is not inspiring (horrible trickle down effect). In current phase of cost reductions, site closures, layoffs, upper management/HR is pathetic- they've made some embarrassing mistakes and have turned many people away. While stock price has jumped up due in part to cost cutting measures, long term outlook seems grim on account of lack of inspiration and loss of talent.
