Pros

Great benefits Great pay mostly great coworkers

Cons

Take away the money and this job sucks. You live your life on call at the mercy of the railroad. Amtrak management is the worst I've experienced out of all the jobs I've worked. Management is notorious for telling you "where else are you going to go and make this money" as if there are no other options in life. They use pay to justify the BS you are subject to. Don't take this job unless you have no other options. Trust me, I've done it for 10 years

Pros

Free train travel is a huge plus. If you can make a career out of it the railroad pension is huge. Pay can be good.

Cons

Little standardization on how buying processes are done, which role is responsible for what. After i started i almost immediate had to start working 50-60 hour weeks (by week 3). Not sustainable
