Pros

Work is not very difficult.

Cons

Management doesn't have a clue about managing people. It's easy to see why Amtrak is in such a financial mess.

Pros

Amtrak pays better than anywhere around. They offer regular training and decent benefits. Being a part of the railroad means union, and the Railroad is one of the strongest unions still left intact. All of my coworkers are friendly, and I rarely have any problems with supervisors or management.

Cons

Amtrak goes through periods every few years. You will constantly hear rumors that they're going to shut down, and on occasion, you may watch jobs disappear. Keep yourself informed, and be prepared that you may have your job taken away and you may have to take fewer hours with less pay.
