The worst executive teams I have ever seen

Pros

Benefits are above average, very good medical benefits, 6% 401K match, lots of days off. Very good products.

Cons

Upper management is very poor. Always overpromise and under-deliver. There is no budget for 2 years, basically allowed people to spend whatever they want. Expense running too high with no internal control, but return on investment has been very poor or close to zero. Wasted money all over the place - very high shipping cost, poor forecast leading to overbuild of inventory, ridiculous spend on advertising with no generation of revenue, no collaboration across brands, terrible systems, etc. Meaningless acquisition one after one. Management team spent tens of millions to acquire brands/products with no revenue growth, and then abandoned the acquired products after spending millions on inventory and advertising. Management has no respect for the money raised from the investors, has no respect for the agreement signed with the vendors and joint ventures, delaying payment and delaying deliverables to joint venture partners becomes a norm in the company. The CEO who just "resigned" has no business acumen but has very big ego, and the C-level people around him are just doing the sidekicking, lacking courage to stop the CEO from making bad decisions one after one.

Incompetent leadership is frustrating

Pros

Because the company is public, there's less pressure compared to startups that rely on funding. Good compensation and benefits, though the insurance plans are more expensive that what I had at other jobs. Overall, there's room for growth as the company create and grow brands.

Cons

The various brands under Amyris operate in complete silos. Titles are inflated. VPs and directors at Amyris would only qualify as managers/senior managers elsewhere. A lot of fluff without knowing how to run a team or business. Yet, people who deserve a promotion are not getting it. Constant turnover and restructuring.

Pros

Generally, colleagues were wonderful to work with and pay is competitive.

Cons

It was the worst job I have ever had - chaos, delusional, unrealistic expectations management bullying behavior.
