Great working environment, work itself is not so good

Pros

1. Very great working environment, people are very friendly and helpful 2. Work-life balance is excellent 3. Maybe a good place for new graduates, but career path is not clear, don't stay long 4. Provides very good training that is useful for consulting In conclusion, if you like talking, client facing and marketing, this is the job for you. However, be prepared to endure for at least 2 years before you get any kind of client exposure. I am sure there are other jobs out there which are easy and pay way more though. Otherwise, if you are a very technical person and want something challenging, you will suffer and find this place boring. You will not develop any valuable hardcore skills here. If you happen to be one of them, it's better to stay away from this company.

Cons

same as "great working environment, so-so work" which is a very reliable reference 1. Similar projects - the principle of the project never changes, it might get harder but that's simply because the company wants to make the deliverable look good by providing more data. 2. Modeling sometimes does not sound as glamorous as it actually is - to satisfy clients needs, altering statistically significant numbers is inevitable due to limitations 3. Proprietary modeling program - poor program which is slow and buggy. Non-transferable skill and it's tailored in a way such that people with essentially little to no knowledge about statistics can work with the program. It can clearly be done with SAS instead of that ancient program. 4. Only Excel and Powerpoint skills are needed 5. Poor compensation overall compare to most industries 6. Reviews are not effective and biased - missing constant useful feedback and always biased 7. There's a tendency that they only hire new graduates - why? cheap and easy to be replaced 8. Don't be too smart - you will be treated better if you ask easy questions to show you are engaged. 9. Very little to 0 client exposure in early years

Pros

AP is a very solid company to work for. The company has 'grown up' over the years and developed into a well respected organization in the industry. Despite the tough economy AP continues to grow. The company feels stable and most people seem to feel secure in their roles. The company provides extra-curricular and fun activities. There is terrific camaraderie. We do meaningful, high impact work, with a sharp focus on delivering for our clients. Overall it is Intellectually stimulating with good compensation and great people.

Cons

AP promotes from within so managers learn on the job. The company should develop new manager training programs and materials. The people with natural management talent do well, but the slow learners struggle.
