Pros

What's the pro of being with an organization that says they don't do layoffs but have some them consecutively for 4 years with the hope of implementing AI, replacing people.

Cons

• Management fails to provide insight to it's team when insight will impact teams functionality. • Introduction of AI means your job is at risk. Company says they don't do layoffs yet for 4 straight years, they have done both layoffs and an annual firing. Downsizing at it's best. • You get in trouble for overachieving. • Management will not hire a manager from your team, but would Rather how externally. • Promotions are rare unless your Mormon (people waiting almost 10 years to hit $17/hr) • Bonuses are for Managers, not the ones actually doing the work. • Your title might be customer service but they'll make you do content and data management, while treating you like your not management material.

Pros

Very "nice" people to work with, in general. Non-competitive environment. Reasonable work hours and full remote.

Cons

After Blackstone bought Ancestry in 2022, and a change of CEO, "squeezing blood from a stone" became the norm. Instead of investing in addressing significant tech and UX debt, every effort was spent on "shiny new things" intended to attract new (younger) customers. There's no real sense of leadership in terms of setting strategic priorities; everything feels reactionary. The UX org was decimated by layoffs and we never got the recognition nor influence it needed to do its job effectively.
