Great coworkers and interesting problems, but layoffs hurt trust

Pros

Interesting problems, great coworkers, remote-first culture. Visits to Denver were also solid.

Cons

They let go of 350 people, mostly US, in favor of retaining European staff. That was after they promised not likely doing it for at least a year.

The fast pace means priorities can shift quickly, and adapting to change is part of the environment.

Mostly good company to work for

Pros

Overall good company to work for. Decent benefits. Usually I don't like "unlimited PTO", but I haven't been denied PTO yet. Going full remote was a great move when many companies are pushing RTO. Company is consolidating and simplifying tech.

Cons

Many leadership changes in the last few years with varying levels of interest in technical implementations, which makes it difficult to align with expectations. Legacy services are getting dumped on fewer teams to support, while other teams are freed up to work on newer systems. This leaves the legacy teams with uninteresting and tedious KTLO work, and potentially very disproportionate oncall responsibility.
