Pros

I felt that the benefits package and PTO was exceptionally good. I liked most of the people that worked at HomeAdvisor.

Cons

The music was unbearably loud and often had offensive language. The strong arm sales tactics were over the top. There seemed to be little consultation in the sales process making it difficult to build value. It did not seem that they had the best interest of the client in mind. Overall it was a toxic environment. I have never worked any place quite like it. I have never worked any place where spoofing your phone number to trick people into answering the phone was needed. I am perplexed at how they claimed to be ranked a number one employer. I have noticed that negative reviews seem to disappear from many of the reporting sites. I also find it interesting that the turnover rate is so high. It was a terrible experience working at HomeAdvisor. I spent decades in sales and was very successful. In my professional opinion, Home Advisor lacked all of the essentials of a healthy work environment. I would recommend steering clear of the place. They will tell you of the few that are having success and believe me it is few. They are having success because they receive the better leads. If you are not one of them you are making hundreds of calls each day to be cursed at or hung up on. Although most of the leads are bogus with bad data. It is hard to be successful under those conditions.

While I appreciate the review, it is upsetting to read a review like this one, with some of the information being simply not true. We are proud to have been named a 2017 Top Workplace -- an award based solely on votes from employees -- and our sales training and development, while competitive, sets employees up for support and success. I’m disappointed to learn your feelings about our work environment, and I hope you were able to get your specific concerns addressed while you were on the team. – Tom Cheatham, VP Sales, Indy

Pros

I worked at Angi for a little over three years. It used to be a very fun and collaborative place to work. Leadership cared about their employees and organized fun group activities. I felt that I grew a lot and significantly expanded my skills.

Cons

The overall team dynamic changed significantly— and not for the better—after Jeff became CEO and after I was re-organized into another department. Some teams seemed to spend more energy pushing others back rather than focusing on getting things done. Yet, those same teams somehow received most of the attention, support, and resources when it came to hiring decisions and team building. Over time, I began noticing signs of racial bias. People with lighter skin often received more attention, support, and even higher pay, while people of color were treated differently. As a person of color with a senior title, I discovered that one of my team members—who held a lower title than me—was being paid more. When I raised this concern with my manager, he dismissed it by saying, 'We have a wide salary range.' Despite the fact that I had a strong reputation among the 40+ business stakeholders I supported alone. At one point, the CEO even stated during an engineering all-hands meeting that he does not support DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion). He also cut sales team salaries by 30%, claiming that they were overpaid.

Thanks for your candid feedback. We are very disappointed to hear about your concerns. Our main goal is to deliver Jobs Done Well, and we've been aligning our teams and resources to better achieve that. We respectfully disagree with the idea that we don't support DEI. We're continuously working to improve and expand our Employee Resource Groups and regularly host events to encourage broad participation across the organization. Angi is committed to hiring talented individuals and fostering an inclusive environment where all employees can be themselves. We focus on offering opportunities to those we believe will be most successful in a particular role. When it comes to compensation packages, many factors play a part, including but not limited to years of experience, geographic location, and specific role responsibilities. Regarding your comment about racial bias, Angi has clear policies against such behavior. If you have specific information you can share, please reach out to hr@angi.com so we can investigate and learn more about your experience. Again, we thank you for your feedback and wish you the best in your future endeavors.

Pros

Fellow engineers are smart and helpful but it's sad to see so much talent wasted on poor upper management whims.

Cons

Priorities change with the wind or whenever upper management wants to feel like they're doing something. Work/life balance is touted as important, but then "high priority" initiatives mean cutting vacation short or being left behind. One of the new core values that leadership is so proud of - Do More With Less - is a pathetic cover for cutting raises, bonuses and shares. Pulse surveys are only used to make management feel like they are doing a good job, not for actually listening to employee problems. You will not become a better developer here - only a better Angi employee by wasting your time learning how to program in their specific set ups. "Culture" means drinking the cool aid and buying Angi merch or using their new zoom background images while being excited that your team was congratulated in a useless meeting instead of being given a raise. Disorganization at every level and big decisions are made with no plan for implementing them.
