Pros

It’s a company you can feel proud to work for based on the brands you represent and the corporate social responsibility they lead.

Cons

Their core value of “Ownership” is often disguised as expectations of long hours, late night emails, and weekend work - whatever it takes to get the job done as a “lean” business. Their performance driven culture is one that rewards only top performers, with only small buckets if money to distribute compensation increases across the company. They excite employees with a large variable compensation option in your offer and promotion opportunities as you climb in the company, but rarely pay out a full bonus due to lack of company performance (despite strong personal performance).

Cons

I received high praises and exceptional performance reviews for my execution/management of a technology deployment project while at AB during my first year. After this project management role, I was then moved into a functional development program. The functional programs (SCTP, BTP, PTP, TTP, etc.) are extremely unorganized and not a good investment of an employee's time. There is very little structure/no clear timeline for employees in these programs. There is very little career development that happens, and an employee would be better off in an actual role (considering they are not eligible for bonuses or raises while in these programs) -- most days in these programs there is absolutely nothing to do, and the program candidates are just sitting around. WOULD NOT recommend applying for any of the functional programs. The HR professionals that manage these programs lack ownership of responsibility to make them worthwhile for program candidates. The HR professionals that manage these programs have performance metrics tied to their bonuses that require them to have a certain number of candidates in the programs and retain them throughout the length of the programs, but no performance metrics tied to the quality of the programs. I put in my two-week resignation notice to HR to pursue a different opportunity outside of AB. They set up a meeting with me later that same day during which they told me they would not be paying me for the two-week resignation notice period and would not be providing health insurance benefits to me -- during a pandemic. Without telling me, they immediately shut off all of my access to everything AB-related. I was given no opportunity to say goodbyes to my former teammates/management. I was given no opportunity for an exit interview. I was also not given any information on how to apply for COBRA benefits. The lack of professionalism and ethics displayed by HR at AB (towards someone who continuously received high praises and exceptional performance reviews) took me by surprise -- but should be used as a warning to anybody reading this/considering applying to the company.
