The benefits are great. . . . . . words words words

Cons

Department Director does not seem to support our section at all. Insane amount of hostility in our department. Manager is afraid of conflict and does not deal with the issues in his/her department. It feels as though employees do not have the support needed to effectively do our job.

People are nice and it’s a low stress environment

Employees that have been with the county for decades and make a living wage think the pay is good. New employees are paid very very poorly

Generally the culture is very positive, work is respected, and employees are given freedom to operate in a way that best serves community needs.

Cons

Leadership, including elected officials, will sometimes get in the way of progress, especially if it’s an issue with any political charge. Also, somewhat disorganized leadership regarding HR and subjects that impact employee wellness and development.
