Needs to reinvent itself

Pros

It's all about believing in the mission. To work here, you should love education and helping students that deserve a better job and life. It's that important.

Cons

Apollo has been all too slow to react to the changing tide within the education industry. They've been slow to heed the advice of experts, internal and external, and instead have only made small changes to their model. This is not good enough to sustain the company's future nor their position in the industry. They've brought in B and C players into management roles that don't have the chops. Where's the innovation? The disruption? Sadly, not here.

Pros

Some of my co-workers were good people. Hours weren't too bad. After a few years you get a decent amount of vacation time.

Cons

First-level managers and directors are promoted without merit, usually because they are Mormon or through nepotism. Each one I encountered in 10 years lacked basic management skills. Most didn't even possess a college degree. The company is in terrible financial shape due to investigations into misconduct and there is no job security at all. We were trained to manipulate and mislead potential students for the purpose of enrolling them into programs that wouldn't benefit them. I was so relieved when I was laid off and I can sleep better at night.

Pros

Certain departments have flexibility and good work-life balance. Compensation is fairly decent

Cons

Change in strategy and leadership creates uncertainty. Poor communication and the top leaders do not value all the hard working people.
