Pros

Flexibility of hours, working from home, benefits and retirement

Cons

Such a sad ending.. I worked there for nearly 20 years and was there during it's hay day. It was wonderful. However, the decline was sad and painful. Management had no clue or any care. Broken promises of promotions and raises. For us old timers, new people were coming in with less experience but more pay. People were leaving like the building was on fire. Layoffs were weekly and employees dubbed Wednesdays as Layoff Wednesdays. Great engineers left, but poor management remained.

Pros

Great engineers, great technology, good benefits, average pay, promoted from within for engineers and originally with management

Cons

New leadership brought a slew of new people from leaderships former employer and resulted in a re-org and loosing a lot of good people, resulting in a few short term wins and a corrosion orf what was a strgon culture

Pros

When you meet students that are TRULY and honestly looking to pursue an education, that is the most rewarding thing about this position. Pay- compared to other Universities, they pay above market and have good benefits. UPX tries to stay ahead of other Universities- they provide many positive tools for students to use during their tenure and afterwards.

Cons

You must be flexible and able to adjust with the constant changes. The most recent changes in alignment with the personalized service to students is now non-existent. That is the one thing that separated UPX from other schools. Now students will get "regular/call center" service when they call in. Upper management doesn't care about work-life balance. If you are a single parent, the hours may not be adjustable and with the new "bidding'' system, management doesn't have the ability to adjust work schedules. The higher ups are not transparent about where the University is going. They know, but are not clear with it's employers. One day you can be told that the growth of the University is healthy and the next day you're getting walked out the door. About 3 years ago, the University was growing and there were opportunities for growth within. Now, career opportunities for advancement within are few and far in between.
