Great students to work with but Administration does not value staff

Students, they are engaged, interested and warm Beautiful campus Lots of cultural programs and great exercise facilities

Cons

Staff members are not valued by Administration and therefore many systems and procedures are not well run because Administrators are faculty members who don't have any real world perspective. Morale is very low and poor managers do not hold people accountable, Poor morale is contagious! Staff pay is a good 25% below that of comparable universities while faculty pay is above, this reflects how staff members are valued and should be a warning. Patriarchal environment, women beware

Chance to work with a few great people. Chance to contribute to the success of the educational system. Chance to be in a prime location for outdoor activities.

Cons

Unending bureaucracy. Toxic organizational culture in places. Too few excellent employees. Too much focus on athletics; often to the detriment of other critical university initiatives.

Pros

Had a great chance to get an inside look of the administrative side of App. Both of my advisors were very helpful and never hesitated to help me work through the steps of anything I had a problem with. I worked at my own pace and never had an issue meeting deadlines. Definitely a great experience!

Cons

Majority of the hours spent was doing website update and administrative work...in other words, lots of paper work.
