Pros

Great people, good career growth with opportunities to get promoted regularly based on performance not tenure, good work life balance, decent pay, training onsite in America was great

Cons

Depending on project, work can be more/less exciting, pay could be higher but it’s also not bad

Pros

Solid solution that drives impact into clients organisations

Cons

Frequent changes in direction. Legal seem to run engineering, sales and marketing. Push to sell professional services over enabling partners.

Poor Leadership and Declining Morale in Business Technology

Business Outlook

Pros

In the earlier days, the work culture was excellent, driven by great leadership. Now, however, many of those leaders — including highly tenured and talented ones — are leaving the company.

Cons

The leadership situation in the Business Technology department at Appian is extremely concerning. Over the past 12 months, more than half of the leadership team at Appian has departed, and a significant number of high performing individuals—many of whom received high performance ratings—have also left the company. Workload expectations are unrealistic, with little to no appreciation, bonuses, or recognition provided. Instead of investing in full-time employees, the department has increasingly relied on contractors, which has resulted in inefficiencies and wasted time. The overall feedback culture is poor, and there’s little to no clear path for career growth. The recent mandate requiring employees to be in the office five days a week has further hurt morale and is viewed by many as a regressive and tone-deaf decision.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We recognize that leadership transitions and changes in expectations can be difficult, and we’re focused on strengthening stability, communication, and recognition within teams. To build more transparency and connection, we’ve introduced employee forums and executive Q&A sessions, and we continue to invest in development and feedback culture. Your insights are invaluable in helping us refine these efforts, and we encourage ongoing dialogue with your leadership or HRBP so we can continue making meaningful progress.
