Pros

If you prove yourself to be a good server, you can make decent money. If you prove yourself to be a rockstar and excellent sales person, there is very good money and rewards. Friendly environment, great teamwork, hardworking managers that are driven.

Cons

Can be stressful, especially when understaffed. Numbers dictate staffing sometimes over reality of business.

Pros

A very good product when prepared right. Fun place to work when managers treat everyone the same. Good money to be made when the restaurant is working the way it should. Fun interacting with families and other groups.

Cons

Long hours, little/no breaks, managers who are too busy trying to get a date with female employees instead of doing their job, respect based upon if you "fit in," not how hard you work. LOUSY PAY hourly, and you pay taxes on SALES, NOT TIPS. City I live in has a bunch of wannabe "beautiful people," who think they are above anyone in a service position.

Great for those who need flexibility

Pros

Working part time in a restaurant is great of you're someone who needs flexibility in your schedule. You can work as few hours as you want one week and up to 40 the next. You can take weeks off at a time and still have a job. And as a server or bartender, you make good money. Almost always at least $10 per hour. It's good for students or people with second jobs.

Cons

It's a corporate company, so there's lots of structure. A ton. Everything you do is prescribed and you're tested. Often. You'll change managers like underwear and getting rid of poor employees is a long process. And of course, you deal with the public and long hours at weird shifts. That's the hospitality industry.
