Pros

The company's heart, values, and morals are really in the right place - Applied Medical has a mission to genuinely improve and innovate the medical device space. Vertical integration, personal autonomy, and the ability to craft your own role are great pros.

Cons

Payyyyyyyyyyyy is the #1 reason people leave, and managers can't hire at Applied. There is an endless turnover of entry level folks hitting their 3 year anniversary, plus an extremely thin layer of employees between the entry level CD team members and Directors. This results in impossible expectations on experienced CD team members.

Pros

Great people to work with who are very friendly and helpful. A lot of young professionals which keeps things fun and energetic. Great cafe and pre-made dinners for employees at great prices. Sports leagues, office gym/exercise classes, and volunteer opportunities (when eligible) help with the daily grind. Great place to start your career and get your feet wet in the corporate world.

Cons

Get your experience and look elsewhere to give yourself a raise. Pay is historically low and not close to competitive. Great performance reviews do not correlate to a raise. Even promotions don't guarantee a raise. IT department needs to be managed by experienced IT professionals. Full-time in office with little to no flexibility to work remotely. Upper management does not appreciate the PM team and tries to micro manage. Upper management plays favorites and only gives recognition to those people. Upper management does not address the needs of the employees and are not transparent. Claim to not do layoffs but will make drastic policy changes for a "quiet-firing". Not willing to keep quality team members by increasing pay or providing flexible remote/hybrid schedules.

Pros

The best part about working at Applied was the opportunity and the team members that I worked with.

Cons

I was at Applied for over 5 years. The cons about Applied gets worse and worse after the 1st two years. Senior Management in Process, Production and R&D should be replaced. They are reactive when it comes to retention and talent management, which became more obvious in the last two years. They are short sighted in their strategic vision and have only managed to stay in power because the people within their hierarchy have been skilled enough to hit major milestones. Their luck is running out because a lot of key team members have already left and more are definitely following. From a budget perspective, they have the capital to make a change if they wanted to, but they truly believe that the starting pay for an E1 in Orange County, let alone RSM, should be $65,000. HILARIOUS. This company can't keep up with demand or is barely, and the development of new Products is far far behind. Good luck.
