Decent starter Manufacturing job
Pros
Always work the same shift, no retail shift insecurity. Didn’t have to interact with Karens. 40 hours each and every week, semi Available overtime. Pay was decent for what it was, Back them the minimum wage was $15 an hour, I made $16.50 an hour, but the the hours always came. I worked 1:30-10 pm. My boss at the time Mike, always got me the tools that i needed. Additionally their company gym is nice. I got on my last week or so put on the company’s cadillac insurance plan, $1 doctor visits. I worked 3 months over the summer. I also managed to strengthen my Arm muscles.
Cons
The work is physically demanding. You Do not get to rotate into different departments often and you might when you do get stuck at a bad department. The engineers often think they are better than us production workers, even though I was college educated, and had an idea for improving thruput by automating some of my job and my dad was a factory owner who mocked up what I described. One guy was unfriendly at first, supervisor rotating departments, didn’t know they authorized me to listen to music on phone to improve output and because you are cleaning a couple hundred of these metal tubes everyday. Also was tasked with training next shift, but didn’t feel like i had enough time, and sometimes it is hard to get the grease out. Wish the pay was better.
