Unsustainable

Pros

The shop was like a brotherhood, but only because management lacked the leadership it took; so everyone was in the same boat minus a few people due to nepotism.

Cons

Where do I even begin? The branch I worked for (Anaheim) worked us like dogs 60+hour weeks, with routes 40-50 miles away from home with 17-22 stops a day. Which they had promised upon employment that we would all work relatively close home and we would have 19 stops at most. Management not only lied to us as the applicators but also lied to the customers telling them that our products were harmless. They would also have us spray the property no matter what i.e. if the back gate was locked or a pet was out they would have us spray the front and charge them for a completed service and would say “that’s why we offer free reservices”. Towards the end of my time there the managers became so desperate that they would send us to properties weeks earlier than what the clients had agreed upon (mind you every client is in a legally binding contract). They claim to be there for the clients and the environment but they care for neither. I would not recommend this company to anybody

Pros

I enjoyed Aptive when I first started. I enjoyed the provision of vehicles and their payment of gas. They pay for their vehicles' maintenance. They have benefits that are decent.

Cons

They deceive their customers. We are taught to lie to the customers while knowing the truth about the pests. They not only lie to customers, but they lie to the employees and at times, employees can't even tell what is true and what is a lie. They make promises of bonus pay and incentives to motivate the employees to work harder, then later, give a lame excuse and don't even give them what was promised. I worked as a supervisor and got to see how the manipulation happened behind closed doors. I was placed in my position for the dedication I had to learn about pests, their habits, and the knowledge of the tools and pesticides we have. Aptive intends to save the most money even if it means giving a half-job to the customer, and they abusively trick customers into contracts. The employees are taught to trick customers into signing a new contract, saying that the previous one was lost, when in reality, it is a renewal contract. Later, when the customer realizes, they are told that they have to pay a cancellation fee. Aptive always makes sure that Aptive always wins. When I quick, I wasn't paid honestly for my PTO, and as always, a money hungry corporation will do what it takes to win at any cost. Employees are taught to do minimal jobs, not completing the initial contractual promises, and making a speedy lousy job for the customer. Aptive would threaten to chastise me if I would not do the bare minimum and I would of course refuse. Aptive later decided to simply take away all of the chemicals and products and tools I needed to completely a thorough job so that I wouldn't have another choice but to do a lousy job at best. I was a supervisor who would overlook employees and service technicians and the manager of the branch would do the same every once in a while. I would train the employees. I would visit someone who was trained by my manager and realize that they were told to only clean webs where the customer can see them instead of doing it the way it is supposed to be and was promised. ALL WEBS. Now, as the company grows, they hired too many workers, and instead of laying off the extras, they won't give anyone a minimum of 40 hours a week even though they were promised a full-time position. Aptive is horrible for all people. No customer nor employee should be partnered with Aptive. Bad news. I STRONGLY recommend going for a small local pest control company who has something to lose with each customer and employee. THEY will care about you and genuinely will. My own experience.

Truly disappointed

Pros

I've been with Aptive many years and have loved it. However, I now view the company differently after fellow coworkers were let go in the drop of a 1 minute meaning without warning.

Cons

Job security doesn't seem to be a thing. Money comes first over the employee's who have dedicated years of their lives to the company. The mass layoff without warning showed not only the laid off employee's but also the current employee's that they don't truly care about you and they will eliminate your position in the drop of a hat to save $6 per person.
