Pros

Aramark is a very large corporation, and it shows. Demands come from on high in the company, without regard for local intricacies. They have a very strong focus on safety. The benefits are mostly fantastic.

Cons

Honestly, money. I have a lot of experience in the industry, and am making way less money than I've made in a long time.

Pros

Peers and client were typically wonderful. Opportunities to make money are huge.

Cons

Upper management misleads managers concerning available labor, equipment and support. Employees on all levels quit or were fired often. I was the 3rd catering manager in less than a year. I am one of many that received empty promises.

Pros

You get a check and if you are not required to prepare or serve the "corporate standard" you just may be able to sleep at night.

Cons

The whole of the culture has changed since going public. The disconnect from clients and staff is growing. Driven by an aggressive "my way or the highway" approach the culture is now everyone for themselves; it does not seem to be working. The staff is universally confused. The systems lack intergration and support. In many cases the systems have overwhelmed the FLM and hourly staff with paperwork. The clients notice this and the corporate, untested, unscalable, unprofessional recipes hinder the food quality. The corporate recipes are in general lacking and now truly represent ARAMARK as a prison food provider. Something a client used to describe the new ARAMARK. Most operations would be far better off a copy of then Betty Crocker Cookbook then the recipes provided by ARAMARK. These so called systems make a 90/10 rule impossible as managers live in the office to generate mounds of paperwork that must be reported to a database that is monitored from an ivory tower by people who have never actually worked with the systems. Should the self reported scores fall short the ivory tower will respond with; WRITE 'EM UP, HOLD 'EM accountable, if they can't someone else will. What ever may deflect attention on the real problem: THIS IS NOT WORKING! Everyone lives in fear at ARAMARK. Most are looking to get out.
