Aramark on campus is unpleasant

Pros

Flexible schedule Free food during break Nice people to work with

Cons

Understaffed and underpaid. Unrealistic work expectations. If working on a campus university/college walks all over the employees and you have no real backup at all. Hit or miss when it comes to management/supervisors. The turnover rate is high due to the above problems.

Pros

Great local influence and opportunity to implement new ideas. Flexible schedule. Has a great "honeymoon" phase. Meet a vast amount of people from different cultures at the account.

Cons

Toxic Environment, Unprofessional, and lack of consistent communication. Plus, there is hardly a chance to move up or be promoted; and even then you have to notify your manager and "get permission". Several people on the leadership team down to the frontline workers are OVERworked. The leadership team itself lacks diversity.

Pros

Aramark is too big to fail, for now. Structure pieces in place and national footprint allows them to squeeze out smaller companies and still on paper compete with Cintas. But company abuses the power of their contracts and doesnt treat all workers the same.

Cons

As a company that constantly makes decisions to look good to stockholders and not the long term growth and benefit of the customers, this leads to failing business. I can't tell you how many times I've had to look customers in the eyes and and straight out lie to them knowing Aramark was going to back out of their promises. As it's a contract business, verbiage gives power to company and not customer. But even worse than that, is the toxic culture of management. The honest, hard working and customer focused individuals get pushed out because they see the damaging effect of customer relationships. And yet even worse, the fake promotion of race relations is damaging to both people of color and white people. No matter your skin color, this is the wrong place to work.
