Pros
This place is great to get a head start and get a feel of what welding in a manufacturing plant will be like in the future. The specific plant is a union account so it does help. You do get paid holidays and that the company does provide holiday bonuses and luncheons (however that's always been the case even when the new company took over). They do run a point system so once you're in the union you get a hundred points before you are considered terminated. Supervisors and below are great to work with because they understand how this plant operates and will go out of their way to help you if you are struggling
Cons
This company's morale has been going down in the plant for some time now upper management all came from different plants and they all like to compare how their plant operates with this plant. If it wasn't for the union they would be making us work 7 Days 12 hour shifts. If you do not share an opinion or if you make them look bad in any way they will gun for you. Favoritism does play a big part so if you're not on the good list might as well start looking for another job. They're so understaffed that it's not even funny and yet they still try to push all the operators to produce as fast as I can like we were fully staffed. Don't get me started about their payroll they can't even pay their current operators appropriate pay and it takes forever for them to fix it so when your back pay comes you don't get all your money cause you get taxed from it.
