They lure you in with false claims

Pros

The only reason TO work here is to have the privilege of meeting a few solid/decent people

Cons

They have no problems lying to their potential employees or to their employees. Management is appalling, at best. Every good quality person you meet seems to leave within 2 years because they're overworked to compensate for the people who cannot perform.

Pros

Single location which makes collaboration easy. The individual contributors that you work with are good people. Management has blinders on, and can not see the forest from the trees

Cons

Pay is low, hours are bad, no work from home, technology is 30 years old, there is no vision at the upper management level. They are losing customers due to the poor user experience. The sad thing is that they see no value in UX and will not listen to their customers. The management team thinks they are exerts in the banking field, but they are not. The banks are moving way ahead of them and they are becoming irrelevant. This was the worst managed, least innovative company I have ever worked with.

Pros

You can work as many hours as you like - the company is happy to let you work yourself to an early grave. The office space is nice and the location is good. There are so many dysfunctional managers as to be almost comical. To young people coming out of college: Avoid Argo at all costs. Technology is dated and, unless all you want is a job on your resume, you won't learn much new here. To seasoned professionals thinking about joining the company: Be prepared to run into a huge wall of incompetence and political games coming from the fifth floor. There are a few managers who run the place like it was their own personal playground - and they're like pit vipers - you will get bit. Think long and hard before you join and ask yourself if playing politics is what you really want to do.

Cons

The company is always short-staffed - no matter when you ask, they always need between 30 and 60 new people. Some of that is because the company is growing, or branching out into new areas, but the vast majority is because people leave Argo like it was a fast-food outlet. Seriously, turnover is massively high, especially when you consider that the people leaving are highly skilled professionals, not just quickly hired off the street.
