Pros

Great place for someone fresh out of school to learn, also a good place to pick up bad habits. Nice work environment if you like a gilded cage. Fair degree of freedom to use tools that would be considered forbidden at similar employers. Informal team environment is good, however, it can be very negative. Great place to get that first promotion. Good place for mid-career banking people to get some software experience.

Cons

Very disorganized environment, slipshod quality assurance. Management that ranges from very good (near the bottom) to nearly impossible to deal with that the top. Ownership that is largely absentee and seems clueless. Horrible hands-on, near panic driven management mentality that starts at the top and infects its way down. Legacy software attitude that pervades development and design efforts. Significant morale issues that management falsely and foolishly attributed to the dynamic nature of the labor marketplace.

Pros

Quick Promotions for Top Performers -- it's not rare for the top performers to be promoted every 6 months Deeply ingrained strong work ethic culture Great for Programmers that want to acquire management skills quickly Flexible hours Results Driven Company Company will want to cross train you with many skills and broaden your line of business knowledge You were never be laid off for financial reasons. Company is cash rich and has plenty of money to reward people who are irreplaceable. Some teams have outstanding leadership Top developers get placed on internal development and rarely work over time Company events at least once a month or so Company generally hires smart people Many minorities You can schedule a meeting with anyone in the company even without good reason The following can either be positive or negative depending on your perspective: Must be willing to learn large amounts of business knowledge and open to learning management skills even as a developer Easy to hide under the radar, but you will be promoted slowly Unless you are exceptionally bad you will never be fired High performers will be assigned 50% more work, and given managerial responsibilities along with their increased pay checks You will always stay busy unless you are on put on a team that doesn't need you, which will be correctly in a short period of time.

Cons

High turnover that leaves top performers with more work Growing too quickly for its own good Workaholics and developers with soft skills can fast track in promotions faster than their more technical peers Some teams do not have teamwork as a priority and are only concerned about meeting insane deadlines. Implementation teams, team that work for a customer, tend to have unrealistic deadlines and mandatory long hours Lower management is really hit or miss skill wise Company culture favors those who become valuable than blackmail their manager for more money after threatening to leave Company is severely short handed, and some people will be worked until they are ready to quit Below average starting salary Many good people leave because they can't handle the stress Some bad workers don't get fired because the company can't afford to lose anyone You work with outdated technology Company rewards people who demand performance reviews and raise Quiet people will not get what they deserve and will be passed over for promotions

Pros

A lot of the reviews previously published are interesting to read, I myself have a different point of view. ARGO is place where you can start out as a programmer fresh out of college and quickly rise to management. It's up to YOU to manage your career path and I feel like I was given plenty of opportunity to showcase both my technical and soft skills. It is a busy place with a ton of work to do, but they definitely leave it up to you to take the initiative to make a move up. I think that some of the previous posters have a entitlement mentality that makes me wonder if they post the same review at each job they "try out". If you want to join a place where you want your career in your own hands, ARGO is a good place. If you prove worthy, you can determine when and what your promotion will be. But the mgt won't baby you, they don't have time. It is up to you to showcase yourself.

Cons

ARGO, when compared to other companies in the area, is thriving. That means they are BUSY. If you do want to move up, then don't assume you can just work 40 hours a week. Also, the high turnover is frustrating because a lot of knowledge walks out the door which puts additional strain on those left.
