I can’t recommend for anyone to work there for more than 1 year; I think you should just work 1 year to qualify for certification and then seek a better opportunity. Your first year will likely be enjoyable because you’re learning and things are new to you but if you consistently get your bonuses and become certified they won’t even want you there because you cost more and they will make it very obvious. They’ll deliberately try to make you not qualify for your bonus (I think there’s some payout the managers get at the end of the year if they successfully keep it from you). When inclement weather rolls around, you’ll likely experience a lot of deception and whatever the handbook currently says will just be changed in order to abuse and exploit you. There’s some serious safety concerns I experienced: no fume hoods when grossing the tissue (working around formalin), reagent alcohol is put into spray bottles and used as a surface cleaner, tiles falling from the ceiling and gas powered generators used indoors during their construction. It’s kind of a bad place to be, very fake/corporate America culture but without good compensation, I dare say the compensation is low for what they’ll get out of you. What they really want are robots and they’ll resent you for not being one.
