      attractive as fast-growing organization, but immature as global company

      Pros

      Fast-growing company with good prospects, excellent product line-up, great focus on its customers, surgeons. Being private with passionate owner keeps it from falling into the quarterly financial obsessions of its competitors to focus on long term goals.

      Cons

      Many growing pains as headquarters not prepared for fast growth in functions other than products, medical education, and sales. Poor processes and programs, underdeveloped infrastructure, lack of proper development of leaders and employees, serious lack of ethnic diversity, underwhelming employee engagement, etc., are all indicators of its lack of maturity as a global company. In the absence of strong values, top management is overly political and focused on self-interest rather than the good of the company and staying in good graces with its owner. Giving honest opinions is a risk.

      Pros

      One of the keys to Arthrex's phenomenal growth is remaining as a private company. As such they can do what is right for their customers and patients with a strong financial commitment that pays back with superior returns. Revenue and profit are not the focus - solving problems and creating the environment to do so is the prime focus. And it shows - Arthrex make the best products, are the company surgeons want to work with, and attract talent despite the perceived drawback of HQ location (and it is not a drawback at the end of the day as predictable weather all year helps when scheduling trainings and company visits!). Outstanding leadership at the top.
