      Nice environment, poor pay

      Pros

      Interesting work in the infrastructure group Overall it is a nice place to work Flexible working hours and no 'hours' culture

      Cons

      The pay is very poor compared to competitors. Not a good place to come as a graduate(financially) as your pay is less than those who join from other firms who are on the same grade. The midlands office is isolated which makes it difficult to have any office culture. Moving up initially is not based on performance, everyone gets the same salary increase/grade increase no matter how much work you produce.

      Pros

      Arup is a fantastic company to work for. Exciting projects, intelligent colleagues and great benefits.

      Cons

      If you get placed under the wrong manager, your career is doomed! My manager was a woman hating Brit, and others, seeing his treatment, offered to transfer me to their group. He wouldn't have it. And management wouldn't do anything about it since he was a favored son.
