Pros

Ascend Learning is a great company! The specific location where I work, in Burlington MA, is full of kind, friendly people and it is a truly team environment. The managers are wonderful and understanding, the work is fun and rewarding, and it's just generally a positive place to work.

Cons

The ways to climb the corporate ladder are vague, but the company is making a concerted effort to make clearer road maps for promotions.

Pros

This company is becoming more profitable on paper to be sold to some poor schmuck.

Cons

Management likes org charts more than work delivery. I have talked to several managers about the work product and get blank stares and conflicting accounts. Managers have to be told how to do their jobs like little kids learning to pick up after themselves. Competent employees still have to do the managers job most of the time, but sometimes managers do it and act as if they saved the world. Human resources is non-existent. Twice grievances have been aired a out incompetent management and literally nothing happened. Heads of HR have recently left and were not replaced, leaving employees to wonder if there is any real need for HR since it is not used or respected. Legal and senior level management can be done better by a cardboard cutoff. An upturned mop with a bucket for a head would just be overkill.
