Retirement Service Consultant-Honest Review
Pros
-Excellent place to begin your financial services career, very good training program about the retirement industry. -Decent benefits, 19 PTO days to start, work from home after a year -Colleagues and Peers are all very helpful and everyone want you to succeed. - Great activity committee that can make coming to work fun.
Cons
-This is 100% a call center, with extremely heavy volume during certain months. (not necessarily a con but they don’t explain that it’s a call center environment in interview) -Depending on your manager/team your chances of moving up vary, I have seen people work there for 5+ years with no advancement and people work there in 3 years move up 3 times. -Micromanagement is a big issue, they don’t trust employees to do their jobs so they require you to fill out additional spreadsheets with completed tasks/projects. You spend half your day just recording your work that you’ve completed. -They use metrics as a big way to determine your reviews, some of which don’t make sense. -The core value “people matter” is a joke- upper management cares about there bonuses and advancing rather than those that work under them. -Dealing with clients can be stressful, some of the procedures and technology they have in place don’t make sense and make the job difficult at times -They schedule town halls and round table discussions with employees for ideas but NONE of them ever come to fruition. The company is solely focus on buying other companies and doesn’t improve anything for those that work everyday on the front line with clients. -As an employee you are one of about 4,000 so they don’t care if you need to be replaced. They don’t value your hard work, raises are only 2-4% of your salary with no bonus or profit share. They care about plan retention and plan sales and positive reviews.
