Pros

Some teams have the opportunity to work with power system software that enables renewable energy. Sells to international customers. Software engineers are given a lot of responsibility to design, develop, test, and document. Work-life balance is not bad honestly.

Cons

Lots of technical debt, poor documentation, power engineering knowledge can be hard to pick up for software engineers who haven't studied it. Pay is below average and raises have just been matching inflation. Bonuses are dependent on arbitrary numbers the CEO comes up with.

Pros

Hybrid work, stable job security, interesting industry

Cons

The CEO only cares about profits, and is shipping jobs to Mexico. Development and Engineering jobs are slowly moving to Mexico, while the offices in the US are emptying from turnover with the company not allowing hiring to take place. But the CEO only cares about trying to squeeze every dollar out of the oil and gas industry while using the digital grid suite to prop up the profits. Speaking of Digital Grid Management, the culture has been destroyed, and the employees are a shell of their former self. A lot of senior employees are leaving with no back fills in place. Also, they pay extremely low for the market. It’s just not worth it and I would highly suggest to look somewhere else for employment.
