Pros

Good benefits, decent salary.

Cons

Very poor leadership and management. There is no trust, and the VP's treat you like your children. Socializing is not allowed! Micro-managers all the way as if they didn't have enough to do. Very top heavy with management and some of the mangers are so unprofessional it's pathetic. Very low morale in all areas of the company. A good company begins with leadership. People are always leaving because of poor management, and HR is useless. Promotions are only giving to the favorites.

Pros

No company is perfect. There is always going to be politics, favoritism, things you don't like about the company. The question is does this company give you a chance to grow and improve yourself as both a person and an employee? Is there a reasonable work-life balance? To both questions I would say yes. There is plenty of opportunity to work on new products and advance your career. At the same time, it is your standard 8 hour/day job and there is no pressure to say longer. Its a great opportunity for a fresh college grad.

Cons

Documentation is a bit scarce.

Pros

The company makes software that is very well known in the chemical engineering industry. They are also doing well financially.

Cons

It is a demeaning work environment and the company spends nothing on employees. The R&D leadership maintains an atmosphere of "fear and secrecy" according to the results of an internal HR survey of R&D employees. Also, the department is bilingual (Chinese - English) which can make non-Chinese employees feel excluded. If you are part of the R&D leadership's inner circle or if you are Chinese then this might be a good place to work. If you are unfortunate enough to not be part of those priveleged groups then you'll find that you are a second class citizen there.
