• Frequent attempts at creating a fun culture • Mostly polite store owners are often a pleasure to work with • Great team with a few bad apples that ruin the experience for everyone

Cons

• Poor compensation • Management takes good talent for granted • Attempts at any culture often fall flat due to overworked employees who would rather just go home than put in any effort to build team relations • Management takes all the fun, larger projects for themselves and leaves the busy work to the ingrates

Pros

Associated Food Stores is a great company to work for and demonstrates that they care for their employees. They are open and transparent with their employees and always seem to be on the lookout for ways that they can not only make the work environment fun and enjoyable, but also so that they can provide meaningful benefits.

Cons

All companies have areas that they can improve. AFS, in my opinion struggles with dis-joined programs and practices. Departments are often surprised at new initiatives the company has decided to take without appropriate feedback from those involved and impacted.
