Pros

The main perks of working here are the nice building and work space. That is about all

Cons

You’ll will be overworked as expected. They expect you to live at work- you won’t have a social life. They boast about above market pay but you will be hired in a lower level. Most of the people working here are early career- they can’t afford or recruit and principal or staff level engineers. They market how you will have many responsibilities and grow quickly but that just translates to dumping senior level work on juniors- you won’t learn much or grow if you’re past early career. They’re having a hard time recruiting/retaining talent- I wouldn’t recommend it. There’s not much diversity here- there’s a lot of discrimination.

Pros

Started out as an IC engineer years ago and have had great opportunities to grow in my scope, role and title over nearly 7 years. Originally joined found Astranis through AngelList. I chose Astranis because the 3 interviews I had were more difficult and more well run than other interviews I was having with other startups. Brilliant founders and early team members. The breadth of engineering problems is so diverse and continues to expand. I spent many years on space segment design, but have shifted to ground where there are a ton of interesting problems and rapid growth. The office is incredible and historic, the satellite factory is extremely impressive. Love working in the city! Dogpatch area is nice and getting better and better by the month. The measured growth over 7 years has allowed culture, hiring bar, communication styles to remain intact. I'm very confident that with the team we have, we'll put a real dent in the enormous global telcomm industry. Very excited for the next few years where things are going to accelerate faster and faster.

Cons

It's a marathon not a sprint. Takes a long time to do big things in space industry. Attempts to rush too quickly are often met with failure in the industry, so the measured approach is ultimately good.

Pros

Astranis is an up and coming aerospace company in the heart of San Francisco. It’s located in a historic building right off of Pier 70 that absolutely passes the vibe check of a new hard tech startup (awesome facility, free lunches/snacks, myriad of perks, etc). I have grown so much during my time at Astranis. The people, culture, setting, and mission all work together to create the perfect work environment that rewards those seeking the most out of their careers. During my time at Astranis I have seen my scope increase and I believe my work is meaningful towards connecting the unconnected. The people of Astranis are all brilliant in their own ways and learning alongside them is the perfect way to acquire new skills, both for your professional and personal life. Most importantly, the future prospect of the company is strong. Astranis should become a revenue generating company within the year by launching 5 satellites. Even during the current economic downturn where most of tech is doing layoffs, Astranis has remained steadfast, financially healthy, and continues to grow! This is telling of the executive leadership that has created a company that can endure and has a product offering and business case with merit.

Cons

Let’s be real, this isn’t your 40 hrs a week gig or big tech where you can coast. I often find myself pondering about work in my personal life, BUT with some discipline it is absolutely possible to maintain a healthy work life balance.
