Pros

Used to attract smart engineers who were willing to work hard for low pay to try to connect the unconnected - a few of those folks are left

Cons

They abandoned the commercial side of the business and are chasing military contracts. They only ever try to hire to fix issues; root causes of issue (largely lack of/ quality of management) are never addressed. Super toxic culture - 'only positive vibes' and the answer to problems is always to force people to work overnight shifts, weekends, to fix problems caused by bad management. Hardware is crap due to lack of most of the company caring, and a persistent culture of getting to the next visible milestone slightly faster, never quality. CTO 'doesn't believe' in systems engineering, so systems are a mess and again it is up to engineers to work overtime to fix it on the back end. Promotions are political; much of the senior leadership is completely unqualified but has worked at Astranis their whole career and knows how to brown-nose Gedmark - the true requirement for career success. Only thing keeping the company afloat is Gedmark's superb ability to con investors.

Pros

Smart and capable staff. Willing to accept feedback and grow with it. Aggressive plans mean exciting opportunities. And space, how cool is that? Lots of cool opportunities to learn and grow in a faced paced environment with passionate folks in a cool location.

Cons

High expectations mean there is some potential for abuse of work/life balance. That said, it's possible to thread a balance. For some people this might not be the thing for you, and that's OK there are other places to work that aren't this high energy.

Pros

Great mission that the company is focused on pursing Amazing people, great leadership, transparent decision making Fringe Benefits are plentiful Appropriate amount of oversight. No red tape, but it isn't the wild-west Wide variety of work schedules supported Unlimited vacation policy is supported by team leads, strongly encouraged to use it, many company holidays where the doors are shut - no sneaky working over the holidays Clear career growth expectations, great support for professional development Management has a clear and actionable plan for increasing diversity of voices, backgrounds, experiences

Cons

It's aerospace, crunch time happens, getting much better as hiring continues and leadership prioritizes work-life balance Recruiters don't seem to share the same values as employees, can be dismissive of genuine requests and critiques from potential hires
