Corporate Doesn't Care

Pros

Keeps you busy with projects, Lots of great decor and furniture for sale. Team is very helpful and reliable. I loved working for this store, the people were great and we worked as a team.

Cons

Corporate asks for WAY TOO MUCH. Many projects to be done in a timely manner in one week but doesn't have the tools or people to get it done especially when busy. So many changes every month, that it gets confusing and can't finish projects or put out freight at quick enough times before the next shipment. Safety policies change almost every week and how to do things, it's confusing and can't rely on corporate to get things done correctly. Let the store directors and managers run the business how they know will WORK for them and not the overall company, every market is different, so work with your people and listen to them. Communication is key in ANY business, if you don't have that, then you have NO business.

Pros

Working with a great team at store level.

Cons

Corporate is a circus. Investors are stripping company down to the bare minimum. Very heavy workload and lean hours. Restructure was a terrible idea and as with most ideas that come out of corporate, poorly executed. Resulted in layoffs and zero work/life balance. Company obviously does not care about its employees. No logistical structure. Antiquated systems. Redundant and pointless processes. Direction from corporate with no realistic application. Poor branding.

Overworked, underpaid

Pros

Management is friendly. You might find one or two people with some sort of common sense or the ability to do their jobs. Can't keep anyone so plenty of room to become management...just know you'll be expected to do the work of multiple people and you'll be underpaid for the job you were supposed to do.

Cons

Give you bare minimum hours to staff. Have someone call out? Good luck getting coverage. Don't pay anything near a competitive wage. The lack of a livable wage means the lack of quality employees. Managers are expected to go above and beyond to cover the shortfalls. There is no organization for anything at all. Stores are purposely over shipped items and expected to make room for product and hope it sells before the next season of product shows. Christmas arrive before Halloween fully arrives and for stores with no backroom, you have to shove Christmas into random spots on your floor or take up valuable overstock space. There's no communication between corporate and stores about proper planning and execution of those holiday pushes. They wait til stores receive the items before making plans. Employees aren't given any incentives... There's no redeemable quality for this company. There's a reason you walk into one of their stores and it always looks like no one works there.
