Pros

The company is going through some changes and everything so far has been an improvement. There are growth opourtunities available.

Cons

Salary is always an issue. However with the new CEO we are seeing things change for the better. Hot old buildings, poor conditions, lack of training materials.

Pros

The people that I worked with were great.

Cons

They call it a working warehouse. Not a retail store. Refuse to allow any amount of customer service. Inferior products that tend to be spider infested (rugs and pottery). Wouldn't allow customer returns at store level, but if the issue elevated, upper management would get upset at store management for following the company policies.

Pros

It pays above the minimum wage. Not terribly difficult work overall. Decent benefits if you are full-time.

Cons

Where to begin. This place struggles to keep employees. This may be partly because the General Manager is a condescending, crude woman that never gives proper direction but is very quick to scream at you publicly for small errors. It may be partly because of the huge schism between the hours a full-timer and a part-timer works: If you are full-time, you will be there from anywhere between 46-50 hours a week (5 days a week). If you are part-time you will struggle to get 20. It may be because the system of scheduling functions on the notion that you have no other commitments other than working at Garden Ridge. They only have the current week's schedule up at any time. You get the privilege of seeing the next week maybe friday or saturday, but you can never be sure. One no-call no-show results in immediate termination, so you may need to come into work every day to make sure you don't get fired. You never get properly trained for your job, nor are you told about certain responsibilities or policies until, of course, the GM is yelling at you for failing to comply. There is a lot of favoritism played by most of the managers. The GM has been heard saying she tries to drive employees she doesn't like to quit. The store itself is very poorly organized. The rugs are way to hard to maintain and shop because they are all stacked in piles on tables. The clearance items are scattered all over the store, resulting in frustration for the customers. It is always a struggle to stock new product because the shelves are always already jam-packed, resulting in constant shifting around and reorganization just to keep up with freight.
