Pros

Flexible hours. Employee discount. Equal opportunity. Easy to learn different departments. Very popular store, lots of traffic.

Cons

Wages are terrible. Temps that are brought in are paid the same wage as managers and other specialized positions. Moving up in the company is nearly impossible. Horrifically understaffed, and staff is overworked until they are forced to leave. Unrealistic expectations from upper management. Upper management prefers to look good rather than to function. Absolutely no proper inventory record keeping. Inventory is always skewed, causing problems for both staff and customers. Online applications required to do extra work in store, but store is a cellular deadline, with no employees access to wifi. No call, no show attendance points are the same as call out attendance points. No call outs are ever excused. Employee turn around rate is extremely high for smaller locations, due to neglect to keep fully staffed and pay decent wages. Trucks do not come with manifests, and are horribly packed, resulting in mass amounts of damages goods, which employees are blamed for. Trucks in Colorado go through a storage facility, and are not kept in order or well maintained, leading to merchandise coming in mouldy or out of season. Infrastructure for the building I worked at is badly maintained and unsafe. Black Widow and Camel Spider infestations, roof leaks, broken emergency exits, and an unusable employee restroom. Not to mention disgusting water pipes in the employee lounge. Either no 90 day or yearly reviews are done, or my upper management neglected to do them. The only raise I obtained was 1$ from switching from cashier to merchandising. We are constantly belittled and compared to other fully staffed, smaller stores. As far as I am aware they don't seem to follow Colorado Sick Leave. I have been told full time employees are not allowed to take unpaid time off. I was forced to take a week off paid time off when I did not have those hours for pto. Nothing in the employee handbook stated this. Full Time benefits can only be applied for in a short window and you do not get told of them until that window is over. I do not have my full time benefits and I have nearly been full time for a year. Cashiers must sell credit cards to maintain hours. They are constantly pushed by management. We offer no support for these cards in store.
