Pros

50% discount on all Gap Inc brands (Athleta, BR, Gap, Old Navy) Sample sale was amazing! Coworkers were great! Nice office in a prime SF location overlooking bay bridge.

Cons

People were happier working from home but they moved to mandatory in office. This caused a lot of stress among employees who had altered their entire lives and although WFH was working and people felt empowered in their roles, they quickly switched and demanded a mandatory back in office. This went against their core mission and values to support, inspire, and empower women which led to a lot of mistrust in leadership. It was difficult to speak up since they were also laying off thousands of people so everyone was scared for their jobs. I hope they do better!

Pros

Great Gap brands discount at 50% at all four brands (GAP, Banana Republic, Old Navy, Athleta). Lots of stores and locations if you want to move somewhere different or try new roles. Great employee healthcare benefits.

Cons

Little to no work/life balance. 9 hour shifts because of unpaid one hour meal break, just make it 8 hours paid. Always made to feel guilty when requesting time off or holidays off to be with family. Hourly employees, including full time managers, receive little to no recognition for their hard work. Company wasted money to host all employees who are General Managers and above to go to Las Vegas for five days this past spring but then let go of 1800 employees. Maybe use that money to have a higher starting wage and then we wouldn’t have to operate our stores with only two people for upwards of 6 hours.

Disorganized favoritism; entitled customers

Pros

Good product, great store team relationships

Cons

Organization is extremely disorganized, with multiple "priorities" coinciding at the same time. Priority should = 1, not 8 different things of "equal" importance. You will stall at Store General Manager level if you don't brown-nose and use all the Athleta positivity verbiage. The customers are extremely entitled and only got worse during the pandemic; HQ and field leaders will not support you even if customers make you feel unsafe and unvalued.
