Pros

Great discount at all GAP brands, great managers and fellow associates, great customers. You get a decent starting wage as an associate and there is room for growth within the company if you make it known to your managers that you are looking to move up. If you volunteer, GAP will convert your volunteer hours into a dollar amount and donate it to the organization you volunteered for.

Cons

Inconsistent hours. Scheduling is based on how the store did the previous year and what the daily goal/budget is. There's usually more managers scheduled than associates, which means if you're the only associate scheduled for the morning or evening, then you're pretty much by yourself since the managers usually do office work in the back.

Pros

Great discounts at Athleta, Gap, Banana Republic and a decent one at Old Navy. Wonderful managers. No pressure to suggestive sell credit cards as Athleta does not have one. Performance not based on commission.

Cons

Not a lot of hours. Short shifts.

Pros

Good cross-brand discount, online site and facebook page shows REAL culture of brand, most of the clothing is awesome!

Cons

Depending on the store, the teams can either be amazing or awful. The culture is NOT translated at the store level. There is way too much busy-work to be done that is directed from corporate. The corporate visits are a mess and the managers act like everything is going great, when in fact they treat their employees and even fellow-managers like crap. It makes no sense why the company is expanding so quickly - they are losing the culture and the managers that are suppose to represent and set the tone for the brand don't even like to work out - or they are so over-worked that they have no time to work out. There are a lot of management teams that don't fit the brand and they hire people just to have warm bodies on the sales floor. The corporate hiring team does an awful job of picking GMs - so many of them are a horrible fit for the stores and their teams. The company doesn't seem to care about what the brand truly stands for - it just needs to make money and the heck with true connections with customers or each other. A lot of REALLY great people have been leaving the brand and no one seems to talk about it. It's not the same anymore...it's become just another retail store...they had a chance to make it, but they are failing! I'd rather shop at Lululemon - at least you know that they are snobby before walking in, with Athleta, you think they are nice and then they talk about customers or employees after they walk away. There is nothing "genuine" about that accept that it shows the immaturity of those that are hired to represent the company.
