Pros

Very insightful and rewarding job. It is a great start up point to learn from other physical therapists, especially one looking to work in healthcare in the future.

Cons

Underpay. With the amount of work done as an aid, it can be draining to juggle between multitasking: doing admin, keeping up with patient’s exercises, and with the demands of the physical therapists.

Creates MAJOR burnout in PTs

Pros

You get CEU money, there’s options to take Athletico University courses for no extra cost to count towards continuing ed

Cons

I was talked to MULTIPLE times to bill patients for more units (5 or more), diversify my units to get more reimbursement, and was forced to double book on the half hour daily. If there was a slow week it was 100% blamed on me, not the fact that patients were sick, on vacation, etc. During your first year working there they want you to see 50 patients a week, and then after your first year 55 patients a week. You’re expected to relationship build (two a month) on top of this, and if it’s outside of your normal hours you do not get reimbursed. If you do not meet your metrics and relationship building you don’t get a bonus at the end of the year. Depending on the size of your clinic you may have to work Saturdays twice a month, which is what I did. And you only get paid your hourly rate, so not even $175 for 5 hours of your time and that’s not even taking into account tax. This place was DRAINING. Management literally doesn’t care about you as a person. They want to work you to death. Funny thing is is now that I’m moving to a hospital OP ortho clinic, they said that they probably won’t be able to offer me Athletico type salary but it’s actually a $1.18/hour more than what Athletico gave me for MUCH better working conditions. While it isn’t a significant change in money, I would do just about anything to get away from that company. Don’t believe that a nonprofit will give you less! Oh and lastly, I was told I was going to have an exit interview done by my regional manager. They never came at all during my last week. They just don’t want to hear the truth.

Pros

Great to get experience if going to school for physical therapy or even OT. Laid back, fun environment. Loved my co workers! Flexible with school schedule. Being off on weekends is nice but makes for lower hours

Cons

Low pay, low hours. Lots of responsibilities for the pay
