- Upper management on a cost cutting rampage. The company used to be all about "the culture" and something they called "tribal knowledge" where they valued the experience of people who contributed to past and current projects. But they recently let go of several senior level developers, meaning the better paid ones, some of whom had massive amounts of that tribal knowledge. It's not looking great overall. The theory is that they would rather hire cheaper talent out of college who cost less.
- Compensation and benefits are a running joke among lower level employees. It's not horrible but management likes to tell us that the company is doing "extremely well and is most profitable". We'd like to see some of that profit trickle down.
- Talent is leaving left and right. It seems that every week, a couple more really skilled and well liked employees are either leaving on their own or being laid off. There is growing paranoia and it feels like most people are updating their resumes and looking around for other opportunities. We recently moved to a nicer location after being at a crumbling office building for a while but the office feels very empty now.
