APEX review cycles are exhausting, not helpful, and promote a culture of stack ranking, uncertainty, and the opposite of “play as a team.” My manager even said APEX “what looks good” is a moving goal and is hard to nail down - how is anyone supposed to grow when you don’t even know how you’re being measured? APEX has become toxic, it’s a real shame as it wasn’t always like this (4+ years ago).
You can feel the AI race panic across the company. Using AI for every single use case doesn’t really need to happen to make any sense. When basic things need to be ran through Rovo or APEX becomes essentially two chat bots speaking to one another - you know you’ve gone too far.
It’s a real shame seeing a company you used to love have these hire and fire rounds. I’d love to see some additional forethought into hiring before having one of the busiest quarters hiring only to be followed by a layoff the very next quarter.
