Pros

If you're looking for the security and stability of working at a big company but still seek the freedom to try new things, then Atlassian is for you. At about 3000 employees and several global offices, it's in that precarious in-between of small and big company. For now, it's holding onto to what makes smaller companies so appealing: minimal politics / hierarchy, the ability to try new ideas, there's no bad idea, etc. People are genuinely nice and want you to succeed.

Cons

The only inevitable downside of a growing company is there a ton of various teams and functions. Planning how all these team support each other has become a bit of a headache.

Pros

Overall good experience working for the company. Adequate management. Enough challenges. Stress free environment.

Cons

Lots of technical debt in the product. Often, you will find yourself constrained by the legacy of past generations.

Pros

1) Modern office environment with zen room for relaxation, bar open after 4 pm, free lunch, and lots of events hosted by HR for employees - Atlassian takes care of its people 2) Co-CEOs and upper mgmt are open in sharing information (as much as a public company can) 3) Salaries and benefits are great (free health care, $600 a year towards fitness, $300 a year towards bike repairs, small reimbursement for transportation etc). Stock grants make the deal sweeter still. 4) They know how to throw a party :). All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. Lots of play here! 5) Culture and values do mean something and most often than not people do follow them. 6) Company is rapidly growing and every quarter beats the previous for a long time now.

Cons

1) Company is experiencing growing pains and middle management is frequently changing 2) Strategy on several products is not quite clear and roadmap if there is one is in a state of flux 3) Open offices while great, are very noisy and distracting. Try working with a colleague on the phone speaking loudly. 4) No defined career paths. Great for a few years and then you don't know where you will be going 5) A lot of talk and less progress. People simply seem to love to discuss for the sake of discussing.
