Residents and they're families were great.

No up front training for directors Executive Directors given to much power and not held accountable for tbad decisions they make

Pros

Developing relationships with the residents is the only reason I have not yet left the company. The residents make it worth the time.

Cons

Endangering ourselves with lifting residents who shouldn't be there, sub-par worker's comp package, pay is horrible, my location hires too many people and then has to cut hours to compensate, medication techs are working as caregivers because of bad management planning, absolutely no opportunity for advancement, 1% raise annually IF you're "beyond exceptional", and even though there is an employee surplus, we are consistently understaffed per shift.

Pros

With the right Executive Director this can be a pretty good place. If you are working with seniors, it is because you love this population. They were the best part of this job.

Cons

Powers that be at the home office in Louisville constantly changing the focus of what our program should be and not being aware of who their clients are. Profits over people, yearly rent increases and trying to "cookie cutter" so that each community is the same.
