Pros

Great benefits package, with new programs all the time. Atmosphere, sense of family. Job security - there will always be seniors. Free meals.

Cons

Money is tight, especially this year, with small or non-existent increases, and no automatic rate bonuses as in the past. Unisex logo shirts. Customers die.

Pros

Job duties are fun for someone who is creative and a people person, particularly for those who do not want to sit in an office all day.

Cons

Little to no support from corporate. Their idea of support and training is to put more demands, rather than offer realistic help. Low compensation and rediculously long hours. They value profit over quality of employees, as seen by their inability to hire and/or keep good people.

Pros

very caring front line staff - nice atmosphere - good benefits and rewards potential - lovely location - free meals - great group of seniors- Atria sits right on the banks of the Severn River, overlooking the water, with the naval academy bridge, boaters, and the naval academy in the background, Residents really enjoy sitting out on the huge open porch, complete with rocking chairs, for horseshoes, magnetic darts, ice cream socials, or just looking at the view. Nature has a calming effect on people and it's very beneficial to have this location advantage. Staff enjoy it, too - and don't mind working 4th of July to see the fireworks over the water.

Cons

tyring to do too much with too little staff - modest pay - lack of true appreciation/respect of front-line staff maybe due to managers time limitations, trying to do too much with too little . . . For instance, for employee appreciation week, managers put together - quickly, I believe - a whole plan for fun and recognition. But the reality was very different. The first day - ice cream social day - was poorly advertised and consisted of the director and the housekeeper manager dishing up cones or sundaes to a maximum of about 12 employees. Then the residents got word of free ice cream and that took care of that. The trading places gimmick never happened, and the other ideas were either poorly executed or explained. But there was a free t-shirt for everyone.
